Rain. That’s what it did all day yesterday. I think I sat at my window for a good 45 minutes just watching it. I was up and ready for church when we got the call that it was canceled. I was disappointed that I wouldn’t get to see my girls, I’ll miss the Christmas music, and the talks before Christmas. I always feel that they are the best.
But there was this miraculous thing that happened yesterday. David and I had a whole day where we didn’t have to go anywhere, couldn’t go anywhere for that matter. We had to stay home. We sat at the kitchen table together-just talking and sitting. I remembered that there were certain things that David did that made me laugh. Like working so fixedly on a gingerbread house, you would think that he was performing a surgery. Another grand epiphany-there are things that I do that make David laugh. Like make up dances to my own music. The dreidel dance was by far my best in a long time.
We watched the woodpecker at our feeder, finding shelter from the rain. Its head move in and out of the bars, pecking at suet. I was glad that we could provide a refuge for him.
